The Reynolds family on board the 50-foot ketch Phoenix in which they crossed the Pacific from Japan to Hawaii. Left to right: Jessica, 10; Mrs. Earle Reynolds: Tod, 16, the navigator, and Doctor Earle Reynolds the skipper. They were accompanied by three Japanese as an amateur crew.
