Description
River Bridge's new water outlets tested by N.O. Fire Department --- The New Orleans Fire Department this morning tested two recently installed six-inch standpipes which will furnish water to the outlets on the Mississippi River Bridge. Before their installation, firemen at fires on the bridge had to drop hoses from the roadway to a hydrant below. Now the water comes from the hydrant on the ground, is pumped by an engine up the 135-foot standpipe, out the four outlets on the bridge roadway to an engine on the bridge where it is built up to the final pressure needed for the job. --- New water outlets tested in ceremonies on River Bridge.
