Youth peers over barbed wire-topped fence at rows of subway and elevated trains idled as city-wide transit strike hit Philadelphia early today. More than a million riders will have to seek other means of transportation as work week begins tomorrow. Members of Local 234, Transport Workers Union, struck the Philadelphia Transportation Company in a wage dispute.
