Schweiker samples recipes prepared from the Agriculture Department's surplus foods by nutritionist Mrs. Sophie Leavitt, Hanover, Pennsylvania, Wednesday at a news conference held in Schweiker's Washington office. Mrs. Leavitt offered to cook the senator another meal after Schweiker stated in September, 1971 that the surplus food he tasted as a member of a Senate committee was "pretty awful."
