1944 Press Photo Jef Hollis avenged shooting of wounded American soldiers

Lt. Col. Jef Hollis of Buena Vista, Ga., commander of an American mechanized unit Cavlary Squadron, fighting in Normandy, reported that while leading a patrol in the Les Mesnil Angot area of the battle front, caught a group of German S.S. men shooting wounded Yanes. Col. Hollis said that he became so infuriated at the sight that he emptied his carbine at the Nazis, killing one officer and probably killing several others.
