Description
John L Lewis President of the United Mine Workers is shown in a series of closeups yesterday as he read a letter to President Roosevelt turning down his second plea to reopen the Nations captive coal mines now closed by a strike of 53,000 workers. Lewis' answer was an attack on JP Morgan and other officials of the big steel companies which operate the mines and use the fuel in the production of the metal now so necessary for the production of armaments.
